This trip takes you on a trek through the remote Karnali river valley in western Nepal, before crossing into Tibet.  Explore the ‘Guge Kingdom’, a repository of ancient Tibetan civilization.  Mount Kailash, the holiest pilgrimage site in Tibet is in this region.  The trek begins in Simikot and weaves across some of the least frequented trekking trails in western Nepal.  Following the Karnali river, we walk through pine forests and traditional Thakuri and Tibetan Buddhist villages, with the beautiful mountains such as Saipal and Nalakankad in the background.  We trek along misty mountain ridges with lush green vegetation and wildflowers, Himalayan herbs, flowering buckwheat and mustard plants dotting the landscape.

This trail is ideal for travelers who appreciate being off the beaten track and want more interaction with local inhabitants.  After crossing into Tibet, we will drive across the wide Tibetan Plateau to the ‘Guge Kingdom’ (Tholing and Tsaparang), the archeologically significant remains of Tibet's most ancient civilization.  While marveling at the barren, yet spectacular, a landscape of Tibet you will continue driving toward the serene and most sacred lake - Lake Manasarovar.  From there you will complete a kora (a sacred loop trek) around Mt Kailash.  On the return, you will again cross the vast arid plains before heading south to the Nepalese border and returning to Kathmandu.  Throughout the journey, you will enjoy comfortable overnight accommodations, excellent food and convenient camping facilities where required.  The unique culture and warm hospitality of Tibet will give you the feeling that you are on top of the world, and you will be!
